Mr. Lamptey-Mills Grabs ECOWAS Award
Great Lamptey-Mills Complex School has been adjudged the most outstanding educational institution in academic excellence in Ghana.
The award was conferred on the school by Revelation International, a popular Nigerian magazine published by Patriarch Media Concept (PMC).The award dubbed "The Economic Communities of West African States (ECOWAS) Educational Institutions Recognition Awards" was to honour and recognize stakeholders in education as the prime catalyst for national development in the sub-region. Reading the citation on the award presented to Enoch Lamptey-Mills, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the school, Editor of the magazine, Paul Bassey, said since the school's establishment, it had been able to inculcate into students, the fear of God, nationalism and patriotism over the years.
The Editor said, "School heads must move from teaching students to pass examination to teaching them to acquire skills to help find solutions to the myriad of problems confronting the sub-region".
Mr Lamptey-Mills said in an interview with the media after receiving the award that, the award attests to the fact that the school's campaigns on the "Environment, Peace, Keep Ghana Clean, Stop AIDS, Do the right Thing and Stop Malaria" were being monitored across the sub-region.
He said the award which is the first international award received by the school would spur the management and staff of the school on to greater heights in the future, adding that the award marks the thirtieth the school had received since its establishment in Ghana. Great Lamptey-Mills Complex Schools was among a tall list of Nigerian education institutions, which were honoured for their unparallel achievements and invaluable contributions to educational developments at the secondary and primary levels in the sub-region.
